Training Package News

CPSISC (BCG03, BCP03, BCF00)

The extensive review and consolidation of the three Training Packages administered by CPSISC has been finalised. The three packages, BCG03 - General Construction, BCP03 - Plumbing and Services and BCF00 - Offsite Construction have been replaced by a single Construction, Plumbing and Services Integrated Framework Training Package - CPC08. The Package has been endorsed by the NQC and implementation consultations have recently been held around the country. It is anticipated that CPC08 will be implemented in South Australia by 1 July 2009.

More information about the implementation workshops can be found at TP Implementation Workshops.

In addition, the Training Package itself is available here - NTIS - CPC08.

SkillsDMC (BCC03, RII06)

The Civil Construction Training Package is at present a hybrid comprising existing Certificate II and III qualifications from the BCC03 Package and Certificate I, IV and higher qualifications from RII06.

A project is underway to rationalise and consolidate all of the Training Packages under its coverage into a Resources and Infrastructure Training Package that covers all of the 5 sectors under SkillsDMC coverage - Civil Construction, Coal mining, Drilling, Metalliferous mining and Construction Materials (Extractive Industries). In addition, the Training Package will cover qualifications from AQF Certificate I to Advanced Diploma level.

The project commenced in July 2006 and was expected to be completed by Dec 2008. However, it has run into difficulty gaining agreement/acceptance by all the states.

After industry consultation, SA gave SkillsDMC considerable feedback about the changes necessary to make it acceptable to the local civil construction industry. While this feedback was well received, discussions at the SkillsDMC's civil construction committee resolved to "unwind" most of the proposed changes. Further consultation indicates that this is acceptable to key stakeholders.
