Training Packages
Through its Industry Skills Board function, the Construction Industry Training Board is responsible for industry consultation with regard to the following National Training Package Streams:
Training Packages are developed nationally by a network of industry Skills Councils. The two Industry Skills Councils responsible for the development of construction related Training Packages are the Construction and Property Services Industry Skills Council (CPSISC website) and SkillsDMC, the national Industry Skills Council for drilling, mining and quarrying, and civil construction and infrastructure. (SkillsDMC website).
In the broadest terms, a Training Package is a collection of all the accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications available in a particular industry area across Australia. Training Packages outline the prescribed competencies required to gain Certificate I to IV qualifications, as well as Diploma (Certificate V) and Advanced Diploma (Certificate VI) level qualifications within the VET system. Because of regional variations in industry requirements, not all qualifications outlined in any Training Package are available in every state.
Construction qualifications available at publicly funded RTOs can be found in the links above.
